Virgin Media O2 announces that it has cut Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 56% compared to its 2020 baseline.<\/h4>\n

The company is publishing the performance of its sustainability strategy, which shows it is on track to meet its near-term Science-Based Target of reducing operational emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) by 90% by 2030.<\/p>\n

Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions are categories used to classify greenhouse gas emissions by their source. Scope 1 includes direct emissions from company-owned sources, such as fuel burned in vehicles or factories.<\/p>\n

Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased electricity, heating, or cooling. While Scope 3 is the broadest category as it includes all other indirect emissions from a company\u2019s value chain, like those from product use.<\/p>\n

Virgin Media O2 has a goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions across its products, operations, and supply chain by the end of 2040.<\/p>\n

The statistics, released to coincide with Earth Day (22 April), show Virgin Media O2 eliminated plastic packaging from its own-brand products delivered to customers.<\/p>\n

The company says it also worked with suppliers to cut plastic packaging at source by 27% against a 2022 baseline.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the statistics, Nicola Green, Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer at Virgin Media O2 said: \u201cAs we enter the final year of our industry-leading sustainability strategy, we will continue to lead as a sustainable and responsible business that strives to make a positive difference across the UK.<\/p>\n
